Electrical Design Engineer | Southport | £45,000
The Opportunity
A £Billion leading manufacturer for the Rail sector has a requirement for a capable Design and Development Engineer, to join their Southport manufacturing site during an exciting period of growth.
With an international client base, supplying into over 30 countries worldwide, you will play an instrumental role in in the design of new LED products, within the cradle to grave production process, gaining commercial acumen, and project management exposure.
Responsibilities:
- Create innovative solutions to complex design issues as part of the product definition and design cycle
- Design concepts and preparatory work for new product development
- Producing schematic designs and PCB layouts for new and existing product lines
- Work in collaboration with engineers across the application development and engineering teams (mechanical and electronics engineers) to produce cost-effective, reliable design solutions
- Prepare schedule and cost estimates, giving appropriate consideration to technical risks
- Liaise with procurement and external suppliers for tooling, component and sub-assembly requirements
- Perform qualification testing of products and validation
- Produce test equipment specifications and plans
- Create, update and control technical drawings and documentation
- Review and check colleagues\’ drawings and documentation
- Conduct product safety analysis to SIL 3 as required
- Attend customer meetings (internally and externally) as required
The Candidate:
- Degree qualified within Electronics Engineering
- Experience within PCB design/ best practices for PCB layout for high-reliability products. (eCADSTAR / CADSTAR preferred)
- Experience in electronic design – analogue and digital
- Some hands on experience within manufacturing.
- Experience with embedded software (PIC and C)
- Knowledge of component obsolescence management
