The Opportunity

Currently, the business is looking to strengthen its commercial capability by appointing a Rail Sales Consultant / Client Relationship Manager. This role has been created to support and identify new business opportunities, working closely with the Head Of Sales who is currently operating at maximum capacity across quoting, customer management and commercial activity. The successful individual will play a key role in managing customer relationships, supporting quotations, and helping grow business within existing and new rail accounts. Importantly, this is not a hard-nosed new business role — it’s a consultative, relationship-driven position suited to someone who understands how the rail industry works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary point of contact for rail customers, including TOCs, ROSCOs, depots and maintenance providers.
  • Prepare and manage quotations, proposals, and follow-ups.
  • Support and develop long-term customer relationships.
  • Translate customer technical requirements into commercial solutions.
  • Liaise with internal production and engineering teams.
  • Maintain CRM records and support sales reporting.

About You

This role is open to candidates from different but relevant rail backgrounds. What matters most is industry understanding and customer engagement capability. You will need:

  • A solid understanding of rail depots, TOCs and ROSCOs
  • Experience working within the UK rail sector or its supply chain.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with customers.
  • A practical, organised approach to managing enquiries and quotes.

Backgrounds that may suit this role include:

  • Rail recruitment consultants or sales professionals with sector knowledge
  • Technical rail professionals (fitters, technicians, depot staff) looking to move into a client-facing role.
  • Sales support or commercial administrators within engineering or rail supply

Why Apply?

  • Join a respected rail supplier with long-term customer relationships.
  • Step into a visible, influential role supporting senior leadership.
