The Company
Ford & Stanley are working in partnership with a well-established and respected supplier to the UK rail industry. Our Client specialises in the manufacture and supply of hose assemblies, fluid transfer systems and associated components for rolling stock. Their customers include TOCs, ROSCOs, OEMs and depot maintenance providers, and they are widely recognised for their technical expertise and responsive service within the rail supply chain.
The Opportunity
Currently, the business is looking to strengthen its commercial capability by appointing a Rail Sales Consultant / Client Relationship Manager. This role has been created to support and identify new business opportunities, working closely with the Head Of Sales who is currently operating at maximum capacity across quoting, customer management and commercial activity. The successful individual will play a key role in managing customer relationships, supporting quotations, and helping grow business within existing and new rail accounts. Importantly, this is not a hard-nosed new business role — it’s a consultative, relationship-driven position suited to someone who understands how the rail industry works.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a primary point of contact for rail customers, including TOCs, ROSCOs, depots and maintenance providers.
- Prepare and manage quotations, proposals, and follow-ups.
- Support and develop long-term customer relationships.
- Translate customer technical requirements into commercial solutions.
- Liaise with internal production and engineering teams.
- Maintain CRM records and support sales reporting.
About You
This role is open to candidates from different but relevant rail backgrounds. What matters most is industry understanding and customer engagement capability. You will need:
- A solid understanding of rail depots, TOCs and ROSCOs
- Experience working within the UK rail sector or its supply chain.
- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with customers.
- A practical, organised approach to managing enquiries and quotes.
