Production Engineer | Milton Keynes | Up to £50,000 The Situation A motivated and driven Production Engineer is required to join a highly reputable company within the rail industry, they are a leading provider of rolling stock maintenance, repair, and overhaul of trains, based in Milton Keynes. As a Production Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the production team, resolving technical issues, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, and implementing cost-saving measures. You will be instrumental in setting up the production aspects of various projects, ensuring that all operations within the depot are prepared for execution. Additionally, you will be available to address any technical challenges that arise. This position offers a dynamic blend of hands-on shop floor responsibilities and desk-based tasks, providing a well-rounded opportunity to contribute to both practical and strategic aspects of production engineering. Work within a close-knit and supportive team Responsibilities: Provide expert technical support for production engineering, optimizing workflows and processes to enhance operations. Recommend and implement improvements in tooling, equipment, and facilities to boost efficiency and productivity. Analyse and refine material flow and task sequencing to streamline production. Specialise in rail vehicle mechanics, with a solid understanding of electrical systems to support comprehensive product development. Conduct thorough risk assessments using methodologies like FMEA to identify and mitigate potential issues. Compile precise material requirements, route cards, and process sheets to ensure top-tier quality standards and compliance. Maintain and update crucial documentation, ensuring all processes align with industry and company standards. Support new contract estimations, helping drive informed decisions and accurate projections. Evaluate and improve production processes, aiming to enhance efficiency and cut costs. Assist in make-or-buy assessments, determining optimal sourcing strategies. Manage approved work requests, identifying necessary parts and securing approvals for seamless execution. Essential Criteria Confident user of Microsoft office applications Must be from a Mechanical background and has worked in production. Strong understanding of working towards requirements.
