Lead Software Engineer

Ford Credit operates under a PDO model, based at our newly refurbished offices in Dunton. Due to the nature of PDO, Product Delivery will pivot as required to meet the needs of the current environment and will focus on delivering the greatest value to our business at that point in time.

Employees in this role are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and products to meet customer needs. They are involved in the entire software development lifecycle including designing software architecture, writing code, testing for quality, and deploying the software to meet customer requirements.

The Lead Software Engineer plays a pivotal role in driving the technical success of our team. This position involves architecting solutions and managing the completion of critical tasks, often in ambiguous situations. The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for ensuring that reviews are aligned with organisational goals, facilitating productive discussions, and making decisions to resolve issues effectively.

In this role, the Lead Software Engineer sets the technical direction for the team, offering guidance to team members and exemplifying technical excellence. Collaboration with other teams is essential to ensure technical alignment across the organisation. The role also involves leading efforts to implement process improvements, thereby enhancing productivity and output quality through innovation and collaboration.

A key component of this position is mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, as well as sponsoring emerging leaders, advocating for their professional growth, and guiding them in their career development. The Lead Software Engineer oversees the implementation of agile practices, aligning them with business objectives and facilitating cross-team collaboration.

Strong expertise in at least one programming language is essential, alongside responsibility for creating and reviewing technical designs that meet both business goals and technical feasibility. Managing relationships with key stakeholders, balancing their needs with technical constraints, and facilitating open communication are also crucial aspects of this role.

• Exposure or experience in the following technologies: HTML, CSS, React, Cypress, JavaScript (JS) / TypeScript (TS), Java, Spring Boot, JUnit, Rest Assured, GCP, Jetbrains products, GitHub, Fossa, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Cycode.
