We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant to join our Finance team at Ford Credit Britain. This role plays a key part in the UK Bank’s month-end close process and supports a wide range of accounting services across Central Office and Shared Services. You’ll collaborate with teams across Europe, including Tax, European Accounting, and the Manchester Business Centre, gaining exposure to diverse projects and financial operations.
Qualifications
Essential Criteria:
- Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of general ledger, double-entry accounting, and financial statements
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail, problem-solving skills and familiarity with analytical tools such as Alteryx
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable with change and committed to continuous improvement

This position is based in Dunton, and it is expected the successful candidate will be able to attend the Dunton office for typically 4 days a week and remain flexible on the days they are required to attend the office according to business requirements.
As part of our pre-employment checks process, successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal record check. This will be conducted in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and applied only to unspent convictions.

Responsibilities
- Support the UK month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare and present Balance Sheet and Income Statement variance analysis
- Manage Direct and Indirect tax tasks, including VAT reconciliations and other VAT related requirements (VAT Return submission and VAT reclaims)
- Handle cash accounting preparation and approvals
- Cover key month-end tasks across the team, including Tax/VAT responsibilities
- Prepare miscellaneous journals and regulatory returns (e.g., Cashflows, Provisions, Liquidity reporting)
- Assist with UK statutory accounts and audit walkthroughs
- Maintain strong financial controls and compliance (OIC, MCRPs, Record Retention)
- Contribute to automation and simplification initiatives
- Support ad hoc projects such as Receivables platform launch and Tax reporting database
