At Dove Adolescent Services we support young people within our care to develop emotional resilience to achieve their full potential in all areas of their lives. The underpinning ethos within our homes is to foster appropriate relationships with young people and their significant others, to support them within their future transitions into adulthood.

We are currently seeking a Children’s Home Dual Registered Manager to join our services in Barnsley looking after not just one but two of our amazing homes. You will oversee a two‑bed and a four‑bed home, with a small team already assigned to support the young people who call these places their home.

Core Responsibilities
  • Enthusiasm in providing the highest quality care and education.
  • Experience of managing a team.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, young people and outside agencies.
  • Have a recognised social work qualification (e.g. QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management – Children and Young People and QCF Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years’ previous experience in a position relevant to the residential care of children, with at least 1 year of supervising and managing staff in a care role.
  • Licensed to drive a manual gear car, own a car and be willing to undertake on‑call duties.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Children’s Home legislation, Ofsted inspection requirements, child protection and safeguarding procedures and protocols.
Role Entails
  • Develop and deliver high‑quality care in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, Ofsted SCIFF, and the Organisation’s Policy and Procedures guidelines, integrating an equal opportunities approach and working in an anti‑discriminatory way.
  • Adhere to all legislative guidelines in respect of Health & Safety and ensure that all staff have adequate working knowledge and training.
  • Keep appropriate records for both young people and employees and implement monitoring and evaluation systems within the organisation.
  • Provide management information, including the collection and return of statistical information as required.
  • Develop and promote new techniques and approaches to childcare provision based in the home and contribute to the senior team of the organisation, positively promoting its well‑being.
  • Attend, prepare for and chair various meetings, both internally and externally.
  • Take on‑call responsibilities on a rota basis, including the possibility of sleep‑in shifts to cover shortfalls.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos, values and aims of the organisation.
  • Write concise and evaluative reports and oversee all written communication to enable us to sustain the required standards.
  • Make decisions when appropriate.
  • Oversee all admissions and discharges to the home.
  • Innovate change and effectively lead a vision in line with the organisational ethos.
Benefits
  • 25 days per annum plus 8 statutory holidays.
  • ÂŁ3,000 bonus – Outstanding Ofsted Report per home: ÂŁ6,000.
  • Full Occupancy Bonus – ÂŁ900 a month.
  • On‑call payments – ÂŁ25 weekday, ÂŁ35 weekend.
  • Normal working days are Mon‑Fri 9am‑5pm; managers are expected to ensure all rota requirements are met, including possible sleep‑in duties.
  • Petrol allowance – Paid when using own car; proof of business insurance required.
  • Pension – In line with the organisational Pension Scheme and government guidance.
