About Ford Creative
Ford Creative is an independent branding and design agency based in Bristol. We work with ambitious organisations to create brands, campaigns and digital experiences that help them flex, transform and grow. Our work spans a mix of sectors, with particularly strong experience across sport, horse racing, drinks and purpose-led organisations. We’re a small, collaborative team, which means everyone has a genuine influence on the work we produce and how we do things. We take the work seriously, but try not to take ourselves too seriously. No layers of unnecessary process. No agency jargon for the sake of it. Just good people trying to make really good work.
The Role
We’re looking for a brilliant Creative Designer to join the team at Ford Creative. You’ll ideally have at least 2 years’ experience working within a creative or design agency, with a strong portfolio spanning digital design and branding. Digital experience is particularly important.
We’re looking for someone who is as comfortable designing a website or digital experience in Figma as they are developing a brand identity or campaign. A significant amount of the work you’ll be involved with will also be within sport, particularly horse racing, so experience working with sports brands, rights holders, events or organisations would be a big advantage. What matters most is that you’re a great designer, full of ideas, care about the details and can show us work that makes us wish we’d done it.
You’ll work across a broad mix of projects, from initial concepts and brand identities through to websites, digital products, campaigns and ongoing brand communications. Digital will be a significant part of the role. You’ll work on websites and digital experiences from initial thinking and UX through to polished visual design, working closely with our digital development partners to bring them to life. You’ll also be working on a growing portfolio of clients within sport and horse racing, alongside established and emerging brands across drinks and other sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing websites and digital experiences in Figma
- Developing creative concepts and visual ideas for ambitious brands
- Creating and evolving brand identities
- Translating brands effectively into digital environments
- Designing campaigns and communications across digital and physical touchpoints
- Taking projects from initial idea through to polished final execution
- Working closely with our Creative Lead, designers, account team and digital partners
- Presenting and explaining your thinking internally and, increasingly, to clients
- Getting involved in creative discussions, reviews and brainstorms
- Helping us continually push the standard of work coming out of the studio
Essential Skills & Experience
- 2+ years’ experience within a creative or design agency
- A really strong portfolio demonstrating both ideas and execution
- Strong digital design experience, particularly websites and responsive design
- Excellent working knowledge of Figma
- Strong experience across branding and visual identity
- Excellent typography, layout and visual design skills
- A good understanding of UX and how design needs to work across different devices and screen sizes
- A strong understanding of how brands translate across digital and physical touchpoints
- Confidence working within Adobe Creative Cloud
- The ability to take a brief, challenge it where necessary and develop your own creative response
- Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger idea
- The ability to manage your time and work across multiple projects
- A collaborative attitude and willingness to muck in when needed
Particularly interested in
- Designers who have experience working within sport
- Experience within horse racing or the wider equestrian world would be particularly relevant
- Experience working with food & beverage, tech, hospitality or lifestyle brands would also be a big plus
- Motion, animation, content or other complementary creative skills would be very welcome too
What we’re like
We’re a relatively small team, so this isn’t the sort of role where you’ll disappear into one department doing the same thing every day. You’ll get exposure to different clients, sectors and types of work, and you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to projects from their earliest stages. We’re looking for someone who wants to develop with us, has an opinion, brings ideas to the table and genuinely cares about producing excellent creative work.
