A large multinational PPE and protective gear manufacturing company is seeking a Market Development Specialist to support the development and shaping of the Company’s market opportunities and ensure solutions are appropriately positioned within future procurement processes and frameworks. The Market Development Specialist will have worked in a similar market development role or in technical sales, as well as have experience working with distributors, and understand market dynamics in either emergency response, industrial or chemical protection sectors. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop understanding of target industries
- Gather and share structured market intelligence
- Support internal stakeholders with relevant market insights
- Engage with end users, safety professionals, and technical stakeholders to understand operational challenges and protection requirements
- Support relationship development with key accounts to improve early-stage visibility of projects and opportunities
- Assist with product demonstrations, technical discussions, and training activities
- Identify upcoming projects, procurement cycles, and tender opportunities
- Support engagement with stakeholders to encourage alignment of technical requirements and specifications
- Work in collaboration with sales managers and tender specialists to ensure market insights are reflected in tender positioning
- Support distributor development through sharing market insights and application knowledge
- Assist in enabling distributors to better position Company solutions through training and knowledge transfer
- Support participation in trade shows, technical seminars, and customer workshops
- Assist in building long-term opportunity pipelines across key verticals
- Develop strong knowledge of the product portfolio and its applications
- Communicate product capabilities in the context of operational and regulatory requirements
- Act as a conduit for sharing external market insights internally
- Support alignment of customer needs with internal strategies and initiatives
- Collaborate with teams to leverage existing tracking and reporting systems
- Contribute market insights and early-stage opportunity visibility to support tender planning
- Adapt to regional differences in business practices, regulatory environments, and customer expectations
Knowledge, skills and qualifications:
Essential:
- Have worked a minimum of 2 years in market development, technical sales support or similar
- Experience working with distributors and/or end users in product environments
- Ability to engage with customers and stakeholders in technical or regulated environments
- Understand market dynamics within industrial, emergency response, or chemical protection sectors
- Willingness to travel internationally
- Business aware and understand indirect sales models
- Is highly organised
- Strong communication, relationship-building, presentation, analysis, and teamwork skills
- Ability to support long-term opportunity development
- Ability to work within a matrix organisation and collaborate across multiple functions
Desirables:
- Completed a bachelor’s degree or diploma
- Exposure to tender-based or specification-driven markets
Salary: £40,000 - £55,000
