An estate based in Scotland is seeking a Live-in Couple to do caretaking/handyman and housekeeping duties. The Live-in Couple will be adaptable and flexible while also exercising privacy and discretion. In addition, the Live-in Couple will have a combination of basic DIY skills, site security knowledge, and knowledge of taking care of art and fine furnishings. The Live-in Couple will also be friendly, have previously worked in a service-led environment, and be professional. The salary for this role is shared and also includes accommodation with bills paid. Applications from ex-military personnel are strongly encouraged.
Key Responsibilities:
- Some internal and external maintenance, repairs and painting etc.
- Attending to fires, heating system and alarms
- General site security - Taking appropriate action in the main building in the event of an emergency, fire/security officer
- Some driving and light maintenance of vehicles
- Routine inspections of buildings and grounds (carpark/tearoom/garden)
- A good Health & Safety knowledge, including an ability to work safely at height
- Winter/Spring cleaning
- Occasional butler duties
- Helping at functions
- Maintaining private apartments in pristine condition at all times
- Laundry pertaining to family and private side
- Cleaning of silver & brasses
- Care of antiques, artwork and fine furnishings
- Cleaning of two holiday cottages
- Helping family and events
Knowledge, skills and qualifications:
Essential:
- Caretaker-Handyman
- Basic DIY skills
- Knowledge of site security (emergency procedures, fire alarms, etc.)
- Basic vehicle maintenance
- Able to work at heights
- Housekeeper
- Experience with care of antiques, artwork and fine furnishings
Hours:
Wednesday to Sunday – 08:00 to 17:00 (18:00 in busy summer months)
Benefits:
Accommodation rent free – includes Council Tax, gas/electricity and phone bills; Christmas bonus; 22 + 10½ Bank Holidays (flexibility needed in busy summer months); pension; overtime paid time in lieu.
