A global construction company is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to lead and manage construction projects within budget and to a high standard of safety, security and quality. The Senior Construction Manager will have experience working in a defence or secure construction environment, have proven experience as a Construction Manager, and have a degree or minimum HNC/HND in a relevant field. In addition, the Senior Construction Manager will have a CSCS black card, SMSTS certification, be eligible for or have UK security clearance, and have strong knowledge of construction methods and health & safety. Applications from ex-military personnel are strongly encouraged.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager to plan, schedule, and oversee all phases of construction projects
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget
- Manage risk, quality, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle
- Lead the site teams including subcontractors and direct labour
- Enforce site safety, security protocols, and environmental standards
- Maintain daily site logs and progress reports
- Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and local authorities
- Ensure all permits, licenses, and security protocols are adhered to
- Communicate effectively with secure facility management and security personnel
- Manage budgets, cost estimates, and procurement plans
- Order materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and compliance in consultation with the procurement team
- Ensure adherence to project scope, health and safety regulations, and secure environment protocols
- Maintain accurate records, including risk assessments, method statements, and handover documentation
Knowledge, skills and qualifications required
- Have a degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Experience in defence, or other secure construction environment
- Proven experience as a Construction Manager, ideally within secure or high-risk environments
- Trades background considered
- Solid understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and delivery risks
- Eligible for, or holding, UK Security Clearance
- Proficiency in SharePoint and business systems
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and project management
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- CSCS Black Card or equivalent
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification
Salary £60,000 to £75,000 DOE
