Since their inception in 2000, our client has led the change in revolutionising the world of inspection machines and artificial intelligence vision system products. Operating from the UK, they have expanded their reach to serve customers across the globe, earning a well-deserved reputation for innovation, unmatched quality, and precision in the realm of machine vision systems for inspection, guidance and identification. They are now looking for an experienced Senior Controls & Electrical Design Engineer who can work effectively as part of an experienced engineering team. The role will utilise AutoCAD Electrical to design panels and electrical schematics for small retrofit camera systems through to large industrial automation machinery.
Please note this role is fully on-site, so suitable applicants must be willing to commute to Harwell, Didcot, Monday to Friday.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:- Full life cycle PLC and controls programming of industrial automation systems.
- Design and specify control systems, safety and electrical components for industrial automation systems.
- Create technical specifications, process flow diagrams and plan control system programming architecture.
- Integrate and commission new systems in support of Engineers at customer sites within the UK and overseas.
- Create electrical schematics and designs within AutoCAD Electrical, including layout diagrams, and terminal & wiring plans to EU Standards.
- Work with the Design and Applications Engineering engineers to provide drawings, specifications, and deliver projects on time.
- Co-ordinate suppliers as part of overall project control.
- Help as required for the electrical fitting, wiring of panels and assembly of machine builds.
- Carry out electrical testing procedures on new machine builds.
- Supporting electrical problem-solving during the manufacturing build process.
- Maintain, develop and support existing control systems at customer sites within the UK and overseas.
- Minimum of 3+ years of industry experience in PLC/HMI programming.
- Experience in planning, developing, programming and testing control systems with PLC automation software on projects from start to finish, using Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs, HMIs and control gear.
- Machinery safety training and/or experience.
- Sound understanding of electrical control gear, industrial automation and implementation of communication protocols (Profinet/Profibus, EtherNet/IP, TCP/IP, serial, OPC, IO-link, etc.).
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD Electrical or a similar package.
- Experience and knowledge of designing and creating electrical panel layouts within electrical CAD software.
- Educated to degree level, preferably in Electrical Engineering or related fields (2.1 or above).
- Knowledge of robotics. (Desirable)
Please note this is a full-time, permanent role working fully on-site, Monday to Friday. 25 days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays. Company Health Insurance.
