Force Contracting Services are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Kilmarnock.

The project is due to commence in mid-September 2026 and is expected to run for approximately 2 years, with the overall works valued at circa £15m.

The successful candidate will have a strong civil engineering background, relevant experience working on BESS sites, and be able to manage a project of this scale.

  • Ducting and trenching
  • Reinstatement
  • All associated civil works required to provide a complete and operational BESS site Responsibilities:
  • Overall responsibility for project delivery from mobilisation through to completion.
  • Lead and manage the project delivery team.
  • Manage Site Managers, Site Engineers, General Foremen and subcontractors.
  • Develop and manage the construction programme.
  • Monitor progress, costs, quality and performance.
  • Manage client, consultant and stakeholder relationships.
  • Coordinate the supply chain and subcontractors.
  • Manage project risks and resolve issues.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification.

* Oversee completion, snagging and handover. Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil engineering.
  • Relevant experience working on BESS sites.
  • Experience managing major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction delivery and project management.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong programme and commercial awareness.
  • SMSTS.
  • CSCS.
