The company provides a range of customised services, including warehousing, distribution, and sales and marketing, to support partnered manufacturers of medical and surgical products.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the Surgical sales division. You will be responsible for overseeing the sales, marketing, and operations of surgical products and services, ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer needs, across a product portfolio that includes Consumables, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Operating Tables, Surgical Equipment, Spinal Surgery, and Vascular Surgery.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of surgical sales professionals, including sales representatives, product specialists, and customer support staff.
- Set clear goals and objectives for the team, provide guidance and support, and monitor performance to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and expansion in the surgical sales division.
- Identify new market opportunities, industry trends, and customer needs to inform strategic decision‑making.
- Collaborate with senior management to define divisional goals, objectives, and priorities aligned with overall company strategy.
- In partnership with the marketing team, develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to promote surgical sales products and services, generate leads, and acquire new customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, key opinion leaders, and industry partners.
- Manage the product portfolio within the surgical sales division, including selection, pricing, and inventory management.
- Stay updated on industry developments, new product launches, and competitor activities to ensure a competitive edge in the market.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms of sale.
- Ensure seamless operations and excellent customer service within the surgical sales division.
Previous Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree within the Medical or Scientific field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred.
- Proven track record of success in leadership roles within the Medical or Scientific industry, preferably in sales or business development.
- The successful candidate would manage the team and also have a sales territory covering the Surgical product range (Bone Scalpel, Thompson retractor, VTI dopplers, Mizuho clips, etc.).
- The successful candidate should have experience (commercial or clinical) and market knowledge of Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS). Ideally, also spine and neuro, but not essential.
- Results‑oriented with a focus on achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
Additional Information:
- Please note this is a full‑time, permanent role working Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm, although flexibility is required for meetings and site visits.
- Suitable candidates must be based in either the Southwest, Wales or the Midlands.
- Pension increase to 4% contribution after 6 months.
