Forbes Solicitors LLP, UK Employer of the Year 2024: Silver (250+) – Investors in People Awards, is seeking a Solicitor to join our Housing and Regeneration (Litigation) team at our Gordon House Office in Walton Summit or the Manchester Office. This is a full-time role, working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Housing Litigation Solicitor to advance their career within a collaborative and professional team. The role involves handling a varied caseload of social housing tenancy and leasehold disputes, including ASB and housing management matters, as well as attending court and tribunal hearings, providing legal advice, and supporting departmental and business development activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a diverse caseload involving social housing disputes, including ASB and housing management, with some residential leasehold and complex cases;
  • Representing clients in County Court, Magistrates Court, and First-tier Tribunal hearings, including applications for injunctions, committal hearings, directions, and case management hearings, with opportunities to conduct trials;
  • Providing legal advice in litigated and non-litigated matters;
  • Communicating effectively with clients, courts, tribunals, and third parties;
  • Supporting the department\’s strategy, compliance, financial performance, and business development efforts;
  • Building and maintaining positive client relationships to promote business growth.

Candidate requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor (or CILEX equivalent) with at least 2 years PQE;
  • Experience in social housing litigation is essential;
  • Experience in advocacy in courts or tribunals is desirable, with willingness to travel across England;
  • Proven ability to manage own caseload, meet deadlines, and generate fees;
  • Good IT skills and organisational abilities;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills;
