The Role

This role is 4 days in the office and 1 day WFA.

You’ll sit at the heart of our Finance team, leading Credit Control across a multi‑site portfolio while supporting the ongoing development of the function.

This is a hands‑on leadership role that combines operational oversight with reporting, stakeholder management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.

The role is about more than chasing debt—you’ll be

  • Leading and developing a small Credit Control team
  • Owning month‑end Credit Control activities and investor reporting
  • Managing escalations, complex accounts, and collection risk
  • Partnering with Finance, Sales, Operations, Billing, and Legal teams
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and automation
  • Cash & Collections Ownership
  • Proactively manage overdue balances across the customer book
  • Build strong customer relationships while ensuring cash is protected
  • Handle escalations, payment plans, and complex accounts with confidence and sound judgement
  • Support collection strategy, delinquency management, and risk mitigation across the portfolio
  • Work closely with Legal on collection matters and compliance requirements
  • Reporting & Insight
  • Own and enhance weekly debt and collections reporting
  • Prepare monthly debt packs and reporting for investors
  • Translate trends (aged debt, DSO, delinquency) into clear, actionable insights
  • Provide regular updates to Finance leadership on performance, risks, and opportunities
  • Track team performance against agreed KPIs and objectives
  • Process & Performance
  • Manage the Credit Control cycle and escalation processes
  • Oversee cash allocation and reconciliation (bank + receipts)
  • Partner with Sales, Building Managers, Billing, and Finance teams to ensure smooth customer lifecycle management
  • Drive improvements in process, efficiency, and automation
  • Support wider finance transformation initiatives and adoption of new ways of working
  • Risk & Governance
  • Manage failed Direct Debits, deposit top‑ups, and account risk
  • Issue suspensions, manage terminations, and support legal escalations where required
  • Identify collection and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Handle sensitive client situations with professionalism and commercial judgement
  • Ensure compliance with policies, controls, and collection procedures
  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Line manage and mentor the Senior Credit Controller and wider Credit Control team
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and performance management support
  • Build team capability and encourage continuous improvement
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and high performance across the function

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in Credit Control / Accounts Receivable within a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment such as Retail, Hospitality, Real Estate, or Flexible Workspace
  • Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or leading Credit Control team members
  • Strong Excel, reporting, and debt analysis skills (experience with ERP systems and Power BI is a plus)
  • A commercial mindset—able to balance customer relationships with cash recovery and risk management
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholders and managing escalated or complex accounts
  • Interest in process improvement, automation, and leveraging technology within Finance
  • Experience in multi‑site or property/flexible workspace environments is beneficial
