Footprint Zero is a fast-growing commercial solar PV developer, installer, owner and asset manager, delivering renewable energy solutions to businesses across the UK. We design, finance, install, own and manage commercial solar and battery storage systems, helping organisations reduce energy costs, improve resilience and accelerate their journey to Net Zero.
As the business grows, we are investing in our people, systems and operational capability. This is a hands-on role with genuine scope to influence how Footprint Zero operates, working closely with the Founders and Operations Director.
The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to support the customer journey from sales through project delivery and into long-term asset management.
The role covers Operations, Sales Operations and Solar Management Services, ensuring the business operates efficiently, commercially and consistently. You will take ownership of operational processes, improve systems and workflows, coordinate activity across teams and help resolve issues as they arise. There will also be occasions where you take on specific project delivery responsibilities, working closely with the Delivery Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Support the Operations Director with the effective day-to-day running of the Operations function.
- Coordinate operational activity across multiple projects and workstreams.
- Improve and refine systems, processes and workflows as the business scales.
- Monitor operational KPIs, reporting and resource requirements, identifying issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure clear ownership, accountability and communication across operational processes.
- Take ownership of operational issues and drive them through to resolution.
- Support the Sales team with systems, processes and operational input that improve conversion and the customer journey.
- Strengthen processes between Business Development, Design, Commercial and Operations.
- Own and improve the sales-to-delivery workflow, ensuring opportunities progress efficiently through the business.
- Support bid submissions, tender planning and contract mobilisation.
- Provide reporting on pipeline conversion, resource planning and forecasting.
- Support sales generation when required, providing additional commercial or operational input to opportunities.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key clients throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Manage operational relationships with suppliers, contractors, consultants and delivery partners.
- Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements in quality, responsiveness and value.
- Help ensure a consistent, professional client experience from initial engagement through to long-term asset management.
- Support the day-to-day operation of Footprint Zero’s installed solar portfolio.
- Oversee Solar Management reporting and customer performance reviews.
- Coordinate Operations & Maintenance partners and help ensure optimum asset performance.
- Ensure operational issues are identified, communicated and resolved efficiently.
- Support the development of new services that increase long-term customer value.
About You
You are an experienced operations professional with commercial awareness, strong organisational capability and a practical, hands-on approach. You will be comfortable working across different parts of a growing business, taking ownership and getting involved rather than simply managing from the sidelines.
You will bring:
- Experience in operations management within renewable energy, construction, utilities, engineering, infrastructure or a similar environment.
- Strong organisational, problem‑solving and project coordination skills.
- Good commercial awareness, including budgets, margins and operational performance.
- Experience implementing or improving systems and processes.
- An understanding of Sales Operations and how operational excellence supports business growth.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence dealing with clients and senior stakeholders.
- A proactive, self‑starting approach and willingness to support wherever the business needs it.
- Strong attention to detail while maintaining sight of the wider commercial picture.
Experience in commercial solar PV is advantageous but not essential where candidates have strong, transferable operational management experience.
