Role Description
The Assessor role is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Leeds. The Assessor will review and evaluate student assignments and assessments against defined learning outcomes and quality standards, providing clear, constructive feedback to support academic progress. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include marking coursework, maintaining accurate assessment records, moderating results where required, and ensuring alignment with awarding body and institutional policies. The Assessor will collaborate with tutors and academic staff to refine assessment criteria, contribute to curriculum development discussions, and support continuous improvement of teaching and learning. The role also involves participating in standardization meetings, supporting student queries related to assessment, and upholding robust academic integrity and quality assurance processes.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in business or related disciplines, with the ability to assess undergraduate and postgraduate‑level work accurately and fairly.
- Strong analytical and evaluation skills, including the capacity to interpret marking criteria, learning outcomes, and academic standards clearly.
- Excellent written communication skills for providing concise, actionable feedback and producing clear assessment documentation.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities to manage marking workloads, deadlines, and record‑keeping efficiently.
- Experience with academic quality assurance processes, including moderation, standardization, and compliance with awarding body requirements.
- Proficiency with digital learning platforms and common office software used for assessment, grading, and reporting.
- Collaborative mindset and interpersonal skills to work effectively with tutors, academic leaders, and support teams.
- Commitment to learner‑centered education, inclusive practices, and supporting diverse student needs in a fair and equitable manner.
- A relevant degree in Business, Education, or a related field; assessor or teaching qualifications (e.g., TAQA, PGCE, or equivalent) are highly advantageous.
- Prior experience in assessment or teaching within higher or further education, especially in pathway or business programs, is preferred.
