We're looking for an experienced Senior Communications Manager to lead our strategic communications, public affairs and stakeholder engagement activity during a 12-month parental leave cover. This is an exciting opportunity for a communications professional who can shape compelling campaigns, build influential relationships and promote the impact of our investment to media, government, funding partners and communities across the country.
Although football knowledge is not a requirement for many positions across the Foundation, this role requires an appreciation of the football ecosystem. We're therefore looking for candidates with a strong understanding of, or enthusiasm for, the football pyramid, grassroots football, and the broader sports sector.
We are the Football Foundation – the Premier League, the FA and government’s charity that delivers outstanding grassroots facilities, more and better places to play, transforming lives and communities where it is needed most. This role plays a central part in telling the story of the Football Foundation and Premier League Stadium Fund, helping to showcase the difference their investment makes in communities across the country.
Responsible for creating, shaping and delivering strategic communications, public affairs and stakeholder engagement activity, the postholder will promote our ambitions, programmes and impact. Through compelling communications, positive coverage and strong stakeholder relationships, they will increase awareness of the Funding Partners’ investment and achievements among key audiences, while also fostering engagement and understanding across the organisation.
About the Football Foundation: Over the last 25 years, the Foundation has awarded more than 75,000 grants worth more than £1.3 billion to deliver the grassroots facilities that every community across the country needs and deserves. As the biggest sport charity in the country, we’re a unique partnership between key football partners with a shared goal – ensuring every community in England has a great place to play. We’re incredibly proud of the difference we’ve made to grassroots sport up and down the country since we started our journey, but we’re not slowing down any time soon.
Salary and Benefits: The salary for this role is £58,000 – £62,000 per annum, dependant on relevant skills and experience. You will be entitled to 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. The Foundation also offers a generous pension scheme (8% employer contribution), free health‑care provision, a monthly gym subsidy, death‑in‑service benefit, free match tickets and access to selected events at Wembley. We are committed to helping our team members maintain a healthy work‑life balance, so we offer flexible working around core hours to help achieve that.
