The Player Registrations Executive sits within the Compliance Department of the FAW and reports to the Player Registrations Manager. The post holder will provide administrative and operational support in the delivery of processes and procedures related to the registration of amateur and professional players within Wales, including the administration of international transfers via other National Associations and through FIFA TMS. The role will also support player registration-related disciplinary matters and provide clear and accurate guidance to stakeholders on the FAW Rules and Regulations and the FAW COMET system, referring complex or non-routine regulatory matters to the Player Registrations Manager where appropriate.

Key Areas of Accountability / Responsibility

  • To provide administrative and operational support across all player registration matters, escalating complex or regulatory issues to the Player Registrations Manager where appropriate.
  • Administer the registration of players across the Cymru Premier, Adran Premier, and Cymru North & South via the FAW COMET system, as well as associated development, youth, reserve and academy competitions.
  • Assist with the registration of players for the five Welsh clubs participating in competitions under the jurisdiction of The Football Association via the FAS system, including academy players, trialists and scholars, in accordance with relevant regulations and procedures.
  • Assist with the administrative processing and review of professional player employment contracts in accordance with FAW Rules and Regulations and the FAW standard player employment contract.
  • Support the administration of international transfer procedures for both professional and amateur players via FIFA TMS, including transfers involving clubs competing in the Cymru Premier, Adran Premier, Cymru North & South, and Welsh clubs participating in competitions under the jurisdiction of The Football Association.
  • Assist with the verification of player lists submitted by Welsh clubs participating in UEFA competitions via UEFA systems (including TIME), ensuring alignment with FAW registration records.
  • Assist with applications for the international transfer of minor players via the FIFA Players’ Status Chamber of the Football Tribunal and the FAW Limited Minors Exemption, ensuring compliance with the relevant provisions of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP).
  • Provide administrative support to the Player Registrations Manager in relation to Football Agent matters and Governing Body Endorsement applications for professional players and non-playing staff.
  • Manage the Player Registrations Department shared inbox and respond to telephone and email enquiries, acting as the first point of contact for clubs and stakeholders and providing clear, accurate and timely guidance.
  • Liaise, as required, with relevant football bodies, including The Football Association, FIFA, Area Associations and National Leagues.
  • Provide administrative support in player registration-related disciplinary matters, including assisting with the preparation of evidence and supporting documentation, and attending hearings where required.
  • Support the maintenance and accuracy of data within the FAW COMET system, ensuring a high standard of data integrity.
  • Assist with matters relating to FIFA TMS and FIFA Clearing House processes, as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of guidance materials and communications for clubs and stakeholders in relation to player registration processes.
  • Ensure all processes are carried out in accordance with FAW, FIFA and other applicable rules and regulations.

Person Specification

  • Educated to A Level standard or equivalent, or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional experience of working in a Sports Governing Body and/or Sports Club (advantageous).
  • Experience in administrative processing and procedure development.
  • Experience of Microsoft applications, for example Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are essential.
  • Experience of data entry and databases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulations and procedures accurately.
  • Presentation skills. Experience of presenting to a Panel/Committee would be advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to show empathy.
  • Must be self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible.
  • The ability to work as part of a team but also without supervision.
  • The ability to deal with difficult matters professionally and in confidence.
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic football in Wales.
  • Knowledge of the FAW’s Rules and Regulations (advantageous).
  • Knowledge of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (advantageous).

Role Specific Requirements

  • The ability to work outside of normal working hours.
  • The ability to speak Welsh would be advantageous.
  • The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and two professional / personal references, to the satisfaction of the FAW. In addition, the FAW will ask to see evidence of right to work in the UK.
