The FAW is revolutionising football for 2–5 year olds in Cymru, with Mini-Dreigiau blazing a trail for young players. We are searching for an inspiring evangelist to passionately champion and accelerate the growth of Mini-Dreigiau all across the nation.

With energy, confidence and a passion for grassroots football, the Grassroots Project Manager will take the lead in driving forward the design, delivery and overall success of the FAW’s exciting new programme for 2 – 5 years olds. This enthusiastic individual will inspire teams and stakeholders to collaborate effectively, ensuring the programme reaches its full potential and makes a positive, lasting impact.

Key Areas of Accountability/Responsibility

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to agree key priorities, KPI’s and impact of the programme.
  • Ensure effective collaboration with key internal stakeholders such as Grassroots, Player Development, Coach Education, Safeguarding, Commercial, Marketing and Communications.
  • Ensure effective collaboration and relationship management of key external stakeholders, such as commercial partners, equipment fulfilment providers, digital platform provider, and delivery partners.
  • Work with FAW Marketing team to ensure the successful communication of the programme is planned and executed.
  • Fully utilise new FAW Asana platform for the management of all project streams.
  • Ensure effective budget planning and revenue generation forecasting.
  • Provide regular project updates to FAW Senior Leadership Team and FAW Board as required.
  • Influence both internally and externally to ensure key messages are communicated and maximum impact is made on safe, inclusive participation and engagement for all in football.
  • Work with the wider Grassroots Football team to ensure the Mini Dreigiau programme is linked with other FAW recreational programmes, targeted in the most appropriate geographical locations and environments, and aligned with key areas of work within the FAW Grassroots ‘Enhancing Lives’ Strategy.
  • Work with the Technical teams within the FAW to ensure the scheme is linked to player development pathway programs and aims as articulated in the FAW High Performance strategy.
  • Build relationships with programme delivery clubs and organisations to ensure a strong network exists.
  • Set up monitoring and evaluation criteria to ensure the effectiveness, quality and safeguarding compliance of the project can objectively reviewed.
  • Collaborate with delivery partners, clubs and providers to promote a positive safeguarding culture and ensure appropriate safeguarding standards are maintained.

Person Specification

  • Experience of successfully creating & delivering a nationwide programme.
  • Experience to demonstrate commercial / marketing prowess.
  • Project management qualification or relevant experience.
  • Experience of using project management systems, preferably Asana.
  • Experience of participation programme management.
  • Experience of budget management and revenue generation.
  • Experience of measuring impact.
  • Experience of successful internal and external stakeholder management.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and the importance of creating safe environments for children and young people.

Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours

  • Ability to unite external delivery partners, aligning community clubs and private providers behind the new FAW Mini Dreigiau delivery model for 2 – 5 years olds.
  • Understanding of effective sales and marketing practices.
  • Ability to build effective relationships quickly both internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Effective organisation skills and the ability to manage a number of priorities.
  • Knowledge of Welsh grassroots football.

Role Specific Requirements

  • Some work outside of standard working hours will be required to ensure effective communication with football volunteers.
  • Ability to speak Welsh is advantageous.
