About the role:

  • Working pattern: full‑time/part‑time/flexible.
  • Hybrid working from Bristol or Exeter.

What you’ll do:

  • Advising a wide range of high‑quality national and regional clients, including household names and international businesses.
  • Advising technology suppliers and scale‑up businesses on the launch of products and services, particularly AI and SaaS services, and negotiating complex technology contracts.
  • Working with users of technology in key sectors such as Retail & Consumer, Islamic Finance, and Energy & Infrastructure on implementation of technology projects and procurement (e.g., outsourcing, cloud services, software licensing).
  • Handling complex data protection and cybersecurity projects, including compliance audits, DPIAs, complex data subject access requests, processing arrangements, international transfers, and delivering the award‑winning data breach preparedness product BreachReddi.
  • Advising on strategic uses of data – database optimisation, monetisation, and marketing strategies.
  • Supporting our leading corporate and private equity sector on commercial, technology and data aspects of corporate / PE transactions, including due diligence and transitional services, often with City and US firms in a co‑counsel model.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience as a Commercial, Technology & Data solicitor with at least 2 years PQE, having exposure to a wide variety of commercial matters focused on technology and data protection.
  • A positive, pragmatic approach to providing solutions that meet client business needs.
  • Strong communication skills, rapport‑building ability, resilience under pressure, and the capability to establish lasting client relationships.
  • Enthusiasm for creating business‑development opportunities and contributing to the firm’s growth.
