Why this role matters: Join our growing Legacy Income Management team and help charities secure the income that powers their mission. We manage over £200M in legacy income for organisations of all sizes, offering flexible support during busy periods, complex estates, and unexpected spikes in workload. With access to specialist legal expertise across the firm, you’ll play a key role in ensuring clients receive accurate, efficient, and empathetic support.
In this role, you’ll:
- Deliver high-quality, tailored legacy administration support as part of the Legacy Income Management team, acting as a trusted partner to a diverse portfolio of charity clients.
- Manage a varied caseload ensuring legacy income is secured efficiently while balancing legal obligations with empathy and sensitivity.
- Proactively progress estate matters, reducing delays and unlocking income for clients in a timely manner.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with charity clients, representing them with professionalism, care, and a client‑centric approach.
- Act as an extension of clients’ teams by providing bespoke, responsive support aligned to their individual needs and priorities.
- Apply strong attention to detail and high-level numerary skills to monitor and reconcile income, resolve identity and estate account issues, review estate valuations, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to maximising the value of charitable gifts for our client through thorough case management and financial oversight.
- Collaborate with our wider team including our contentious probate, charity probate, property, and governance specialists to deliver comprehensive support to clients.
- Actively contribute to team knowledge‑sharing and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure our clients receive high quality support.
What we’re looking for:
- We are looking for a motivated and client-focused individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in using and maintaining databases, with strong organisational and data management skills.
- Previous experience in legacy administration, or a genuine interest in developing within this area, with familiarity with systems such as First Class 4 (or similar case management platforms).
- A basic understanding of Wills, Probate, and Trust law, or a clear willingness to build expertise in these areas.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
- Progression towards, or an interest in undertaking, an ILM Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration or similar professional qualification.
- A sensitive and empathetic approach when dealing with bereaved families, donors, and other stakeholders connected to legacy gifts.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering a high standard of client care.
- Experience of, or a desire to develop, operating within a modern digital environment, with the ability and motivation to adapt to a law firm setting, including its systems, processes, and expectations around client service.
- A proactive and collaborative mindset, with a shared commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
