The role
We’re looking for the experience design leaders of the future. As someone at the beginning of their career, success in this role comes from consistently delivering smaller projects and contributing to larger ones, while making rapid progress in your own skills development.
You’ll work alongside leaders in the product and experience design field in a supportive environment where you’ll be able to thrive and grow.
This role is offered initially on a 6-month fixed term contract.
Basic Requirements
- You must be able to work from our London office (or local client office in London) at least twice a week.
- Based on our business strategy, client needs and specific job roles, there may be a requirement to travel to client sites either domestically or internationally.
- Due to the consulting nature of our business you must be willing to work on projects for clients across a wide range of industries.
- Must be able to work with our global team and across different time zones is crucial. Hours must be flexible.
- Candidates must apply with CV and Portfolio.
Role and responsibilities
As a Junior Product Designer, you’ll work with some of the world’s biggest and best-known brands.
- Deliver design concepts and solutions to meet the needs of the business and its intended audience, in varying degrees of fidelity and detail.
- Understand, question and follow the design direction and creative thinking set by the project’s Creative Lead.
- Understand and interpret research as a way of generating ideas and improving your design solutions.
- Identify, understand and consider technical and business constraints and objectives.
- Present creative design thinking to clients and guide them through iterative customer-centred design processes under the guidance of more experienced members of the team.
- Share project stories and experiences with the wider business, providing critique and direction to your peers and team members.
- Embody Foolproof’s values, design philosophy and practice, internally and externally.
Required skills and experience
- A detailed understanding of the theory that underpins experience design, including relevant principles of psychology.
- This could be from a university degree (e.g. Human Computer Interaction), a short course, or you may be self-taught.
- A clear interest in and some practical experience of UX/UI design.
- We do not expect you to have “1-2 years of experience” as we know you are just starting out in your career, but you should be able to demonstrate your passion for designing products and services for people to improve their lives. Previous successful candidates have shown this through university work, internships, volunteer work, articles and other side projects.
- Some experience of industry-standard design tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and prototyping tools, etc.)
- A solid grounding in graphic design.
- Excellent communication skills from an internal email through to a client presentation. You can create rapport and build relationships with the people you work with.
- A collaborative team player with excellent time management skills.
- Adaptable and resilient: you are comfortable with ambiguity and can make decisions with incomplete information. You remain calm under pressure and are able to work in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. You know when to ask for support.
- Eager to grow: you seek opportunities to learn and gather feedback on your work. You make the most of every opportunity presented to you.
