As a Senior Quality Engineer, youâll take ownership of functional testing across a range of initiatives, working closely with business and technology teams to ensure solutions are delivered to a high standard. Youâll be involved early in the delivery lifecycle, guiding test readiness, coordinating activities across projects, and providing clear visibility of testing progress. This role also plays a key part in driving continuous improvement, mentoring other Quality Engineers, refining testing practices, and supporting a strong quality culture across the organisation. This role is based at our Support Office in Papanui, Christchurch and is worked 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with hours worked between 7:00am and 6:00pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Quality Engineering activities across multiple projects, from design through to development and release.
- Analyse business and technical documentation to define testing scope, readiness, and requirements.
- Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and supporting documentation, including coordinating and executing functional and regression testing across releases.
- Execute and support automated test activities where applicable, documenting outcomes through defect reports and test artefacts.
- Manage test environment readiness, test entry and exit reporting, and provide regular progress updates to ensure delivery milestones are met.
- Collaborate with business users, analysts, developers, and project managers to ensure testing aligns with business needs.
- Raise, track, and escalate defects in line with agreed processes.
About you:
Youâre an experienced tester who is comfortable working across multiple projects and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. You bring a strong attention to detail and a structured approach to testing and a proactive mindset. Ideally you will also have:
- Strong technical documentation review and interpretation skills.
- Solid understanding of business processes and the systems that support them.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams.
- Experience with regression testing and exposure to automated testing tools or frameworks is desirable.
- Strong problem analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- ISTQB Foundation level certified.
- ISTQB Agile tester certification and Professional Scrum Master certification would be an advantage.
- Exposure to performance testing practices would be an advantage.
- Prior experience working within the food retail industry would be an advantage.
In addition, you will bring in-depth experience testing complex enterprise platforms, including:
- SAP ERP systems, with handsâon testing experience across:
- SAP CAR â promotions creation and management (banner/store side).
- SAP BTP â promotions creation and management (supplier side).
- SAP S/4HANA â condition and SGTT contract creation and management.
- SAP Hybris â Product Information Management (PIM).
- SAP Transport Management (TM) and Enterprise Warehouse Management (EWM) systems, including endâtoâend and integration testing across supply chain workflows.
- Automation testing experience in ERP systems.
