About the role: As Cloud Operations Lead, you’ll be responsible for our hybrid cloud platforms, setting the standard for cloud performance and providing operational leadership to our Cloud Operations Engineering team. Reporting to the Head of Digital Platforms, you’ll operate across platform functions, architecture and security, playing a critical role in ensuring our Digital Platforms are fit for purpose and support business-critical retail and supply chain services as intended. Leading the day-to-day action and continuous improvement of platforms across AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and on-premises environments, you’ll ensure services are resilient and scalable. The role collaborates with our architecture team, but the focus is on operations rather than architecture design.

About you: You’ll be an experienced cloud professional with a strong capability in executing tasks, problem solving and system improvements. You’ll bring leadership experience and the ability to drive outcomes across teams. Ideally, you’ll also bring:

  • Strong technical knowledge with experience operating and supporting cloud environments (AWS, Azure and/or GCP).
  • Comfortable working across multiple teams with the ability to communicate and escalate operational risk appropriately.
  • Proven background in cloud operations, infrastructure support, or site reliability engineering roles.
  • Solid understanding of observability practices, including monitoring, logging, alerting, and on-call operations.
  • Experience applying Infrastructure as Code, automation, and DevSecOps-aligned ways of working.
  • Practical understanding of cloud security, networking, identity, and platform resilience fundamentals.
  • Strong troubleshooting capability in complex, production-scale technical environments.
  • Clear communicator, able to translate technical issues and operational impact for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
