The primary role of the Software Sales Engineer is to sell Foods Connected software and services to clients by understanding their needs and demonstrating how the product meets those needs.

The Software Sales Engineer is an instrumental part of the Sales team, reporting to the Senior Software Sales Engineer.

Working closely with our Commercial Sales team and using enterprise AI tools, you will deliver engaging product demonstrations to food businesses globally, giving them a detailed view of the value Foods Connected can add to their operations.

A strong knowledge of demonstrating Saa S products and an interest in the food industry will help you understand the issues facing the sector and how Foods Connected's products can solve them.

This role calls for a high standard of attention to detail, including the preparation of customised demos that engage the audience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pre-Sales Discovery and Solution Scoping – 15%
  • Participate in discovery calls to understand customer requirements, pain points, and business challenges.

This applies primarily to new logo customers, but will also involve demos to existing customers for upsell and cross-sell.

  • Translate customer needs into a clear solution by creating demo plans that map requirements to relevant platform tools.
  • Ensure proposed solutions address pain points effectively before building the demo.
  • Demo Creation and Delivery – 50%
  • Build bespoke, customer-specific software demonstrations tailored to their use case, often leveraging customer data under NDA.
  • Deliver engaging, live demos that highlight product value, ROI, and alignment with customer objectives.
  • Act as an ongoing technical point of contact post-demo, answering product questions and creating short explainer videos when needed.
  • Technical Proposals & Cross-Functional Collaboration - 25%
  • Prepare and complete RFIs and RFPs, ensuring accuracy and alignment with customer requirements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date library of technical responses and supporting materials for efficient proposal development.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e. g. Product Marketing, Implementation, Product) to provide product knowledge and demo features that support upsell opportunities.
  • Industry and Product Expertise - 10%
  • Stay current on Foods Connected functionality, new features, and technology trends.
  • Maintain awareness of food industry regulations, trends, and challenges to position solutions effectively.
  • Build trust with prospects by demonstrating deep product knowledge and understanding of their business context.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 years' relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years' experience in a similar role interacting with and demonstrating a Saa S platform.
  • Experience contributing to, leading, or presenting technical proposals as part of a sales lifecycle.
  • Prior experience in the software and/or food industry.
  • AI awareness and experience, with demonstrated knowledge of how AI is being integrated into Saa S solutions and customer use cases.
  • Experience with sales qualification and enablement methodologies such as MEDDPICC, BANT, SPIN, etc.
  • TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • To perform this job successfully, the Software Sales Engineer should have experience with:
  • Microsoft 365 Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word).
  • Hub Spot or a similar CRM system.
  • The functionality and gaps of the products and services sold across the food industry by retailers and manufacturers.
  • AI tools and technologies relevant to Saa S platforms, including an understanding of AI features and how to communicate their value to customers.
  • Articulating the business benefits and ROI of AI capabilities during customer demonstrations and sales conversations.
