We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join our Belfast team and take on a meaningful role in the day-to-day delivery of our finance operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who thrives under pressure and is eager to grow within a fast-paced technology business. You will be involved across a broad range of transactional finance activities including bookkeeping, reconciliations, month-end support, VAT, and audit preparation. You will be working collaboratively with the wider finance team to ensure everything runs seamlessly.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
- Maintaining accurate financial records and completing bank, control account, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Raising and processing customer and supplier invoices, ensuring accurate coding and approval compliance
- Proactively managing debtor balances and supporting credit control activities
- Preparing journals including accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, and adjustments
- Supporting month-end schedules, reports, and fixed asset register updates
- Drafting payment runs including supplier, payroll, and HMRC payments
- Assisting with VAT return preparation and supporting audit information requests
- Supporting improvements to financial processes and ad-hoc finance projects
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Part-qualified accounting technician (AAT, ATI, or equivalent) or a desire to pursue qualifications is desirable
- Experience in an accounting or finance support role (industry or practice)
- Strong Excel skills and knowledge of bookkeeping principles and double entry
- Experience with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, NetSuite, or similar
- High attention to detail with strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive hands-on attitude
- Experience supporting VAT returns and audits is beneficial but not essential
