With a long track record within the design, manufacture and supply of a comprehensive range of specialised processing machinery for high volume food production, this business sells equipment to SMEs and multinational food groups. Recent years have seen substantial R&D investment and innovation applied to existing products, which has led to increased sales.
The Role:
- Develop strong relationships with Food Manufacturers, promoting the business's range of advanced food machinery and bespoke food process solutions.
- Develop and execute sales plans to achieve profitable growth, meeting agreed objectives.
- Act as the key contact between the business and the Food Manufacturing customer base.
- Engage with Engineers and Senior decision-makers alike and discuss complex systems such as bespoke production lines for chilled and/or ambient products.
- Work proactively to identify commercial opportunities, understanding customer requirements, and proposing tailored solutions that align with the customers' needs.
- Manage a full sales cycle from lead generation through to negotiation and contract closure.
- Work in conjunction with engineering project teams, and the internal engineering team to ensure accurate proposals and seamless project handovers.
- Coordinate technical demonstrations and support tender responses.
- Develop relationships with key players in both existing and new market sectors, particularly overseas markets.
- Conduct pre-quote factory appraisals to fully understand the client's requirements, then offer tailored machinery solutions that meet specific applications.
- Conduct contract negotiations, prepare quotations and ensure the customer receives exceptional after sales support.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform product development and strategic decisions.
Most of the work undertaken will be with customers in the UK and Europe, although the customer base is also growing in areas such as the Americas and Asia, so the role is global by nature.
The Person:
- Strong technical engineering background in high-value Food Machinery sales.
- Recognised qualification within an Engineering discipline.
- Experience of selling Food Machinery to Overseas customers.
- Driven with strong presentation and communication skills.
- A customer-centric mindset, combined with the ability to represent the business's technical excellence and innovative solutions to a global client base.
- Will spend up to 70-80% of their time visiting customers and can expect periods of 1-2 weeks working away from home overseas.
- Location is flexible although the individual appointed will live in the UK, close to the motorway network.
