FoodChain ID is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cloud Engineer I to join our Cloud Services team. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals looking to build hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, automation, and modern DevOps practices while working alongside experienced cloud engineers.

As part of the Cloud Services team, you will help support and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments, assist with operational maintenance and monitoring, and contribute to cloud engineering initiatives involving Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, observability, and platform reliability. This role offers strong opportunities for technical growth through mentorship, hands-on experience, and participation in modernization and automation initiatives. This position reports to the Cloud Services Manager. We are only able to accept applications from people with the right to work in the UK.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Track work and document task details within issue and project management systems.
  • Support and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Assist with routine administration and maintenance of cloud environments across AWS and Azure.
  • Monitor cloud platform health, performance, and reliability while troubleshooting operational issues.
  • Perform operating system patching, updates, and disaster recovery testing.
  • Apply cloud security best practices in accordance with organizational standards and policies.
  • Assist with application and infrastructure deployments through CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
  • Collaborate with development teams and stakeholders to support cloud operations and deployment activities.
  • Participate in a shared on-call rotation.

Required Qualifications
  • Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
  • Experience managing Windows and/or Linux systems, including user and group administration.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals including subnets, firewalls, DNS, VPNs, and load balancers.
  • Basic proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools and deployment workflows such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, OpenSearch, Nagios, or CheckMK.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to support occasional off-hours maintenance or operational activities as needed.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Relevant cloud or technical certifications such as: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, CompTIA or Microsoft certifications.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT.
  • Exposure to container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems such as Jira or ServiceNow and basic ITIL concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Strong desire to grow professionally and expand cloud engineering skills.
