NHS Supply Chain: Food – Nutrition Compliance Manager
As a leading food procurement organisation, we partner with suppliers and NHS Trusts to deliver sustainable savings, enhance service quality, and support the health and wellbeing of patients, staff, and visitors. This is a unique opportunity to join us on our journey to become the UK’s number one third‑party procurement provider.
The Role
This is a high‑impact, strategic role where you’ll lead the development and delivery of the nutrition compliance agenda across NHS Supply Chain: Food. You’ll play a pivotal part in shaping how nutritional standards are implemented and monitored, ensuring NHS Trusts meet Hospital Food Standards while driving innovation, compliance, and improved health outcomes. Please note this is a maternity cover contract.
Working cross‑functionally with procurement, culinary, and account management teams, you’ll influence both internal strategy and supplier performance—helping to raise standards across the NHS food supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver the nutrition and compliance strategy roadmap across short, medium, and long‑term plans
- Drive compliance to Hospital Food Standards, Public Health targets, and wider government food standards
- Develop and embed performance frameworks, including supplier scorecards and compliance tracking
- Partner with category teams to influence supplier nutritional policies and identify opportunities for improvement
- Engage directly with NHS Trust stakeholders to audit, monitor and improve compliance performance
- Support and input into tenders and specifications to ensure nutritional and regulatory standards are met
- Champion initiatives such as plant‑forward eating and wellbeing‑focused food strategies
- Deliver internal dietetic training and provide expert guidance across procurement, culinary, and account management teams
- Represent the organisation externally through industry engagement, forums, and networking events
- Drive added‑value opportunities that support both savings and revenue growth across key accounts
About You
- Degree‑qualified in Nutrition or Dietetics
- Registered Dietitian or Nutritionist (HCPC or UKVRN)
- Strong experience working in a nutrition, dietetic, or compliance‑focused role
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Experience working across multiple teams and managing competing priorities
- Confident communicator with strong presentation and facilitation skills
- Passionate about food, nutrition trends, and improving health outcomes at scale
- Commercially aware, with an understanding of how to drive value through compliance and innovation
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across England when required
