You’ll ensure robust financial controls are in place, oversee safe and effective financial operations, and lead the production of our Annual Report and Accounts to the highest standards. This role is a 12-month fixed-term position.
Responsibilities
- Champion strong financial governance across the organisation.
- Lead on financial reporting and continuous improvement of our finance systems.
- Support our financial operations team to deliver accurate, efficient, and well-controlled processes.
- Manage the team responsible for producing FSA’s Annual Report and Accounts, our finance system and digital finance solutions and our finance operations delivery.
- Act as the main point of contact for our external auditors.
About the Role
A key part of this role involves leading the Financial Control and Operations team, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment. You’ll champion continuous improvement and drive excellence by embedding best practices from the Government Finance Function.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted source of expert financial advice across the organisation, particularly in areas affecting financial management and control.
- Ensure compliance with the principles of Managing Public Money.
- Drive changes and continuous improvement in our finance systems and other digital solutions.
- Take full ownership of the Annual Report and Accounts process, leading the Financial Accounting & Reporting team in producing statutory financial accounts for Westminster, Northern Ireland, Wales, and consolidated reporting.
- You’ll identify and communicate key risks, issues, and opportunities to senior stakeholders.
- Ensure the accuracy of the FSA’s Balance Sheet by maintaining a deep understanding of the organisation’s assets and liabilities.
- You’ll implement robust processes to provide assurance to the Accounting Officer.
- Lead the FSA’s in-house financial operations, covering accounts receivable, debt management, accounts payable, payroll, and expenses.
- You’ll provide assurance to senior management through effective performance monitoring (e.g. KPIs) and manage the relationship with our contracted financial services provider.
