The Business Support Officer role offers the opportunity to contribute to a dedicated team supporting the Food Standards Agency’s work in Northern Ireland. Based in Belfast, the post provides vital administrative and corporate support across a wide range of responsibilities, ensuring the smooth running of activities within the Executive Support Unit.
The role works closely with colleagues, stakeholders and other government departments, helping to facilitate effective communication and accurate information flow. You will play an important part in coordinating meetings, managing information and assisting with the production of official documentation. Training is provided to support your development, including familiarisation with accountability requirements and Northern Ireland legislative procedures. In this role, you will support the Executive Support Unit by handling a variety of tasks that help maintain efficient corporate services. This includes producing official documents for stakeholders, generating purchase orders, processing invoices and supporting the dissemination of relevant information across teams.
You will also play a role in collating, interpreting and analysing data to produce reports and ensure that information is published accurately and on time. The work involves liaising with colleagues, local authorities, other government departments and stakeholders to gather and share information. You will contribute to incident support by assisting with food, feed and environmental investigations, and you will help maintain and develop databases used in policy areas.
Participation in internal and external meetings is expected, including providing secretariat support where needed. The responsibilities of the role may evolve to reflect business needs.
