Barbacks are responsible for maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the bar while assisting Bartenders with service. They should be able to analyse and understand the needs of the bar at any point of service, such as replenishing stock, ice, and glassware, and constantly reprioritise these tasks to ensure service runs smoothly.
All barbacks must have a disciplined approach to studying and focus on improving their fluency in all departments. This includes, but is not limited to, spirit knowledge, cocktail history and timeline, classic cocktails, the London cocktail scene, and recognised industry professionals.
As a Barback, you have a specific set of responsibilities when setting up and breaking down the bar for service. This can include a variety of elements such as restocking, general organization, syrup production, and getting the bar detailed to receive guests.
Barbacks must be able to explain and discuss all food dishes and menu cocktails available. They must also be able to perform traditional wine service, pour beer correctly respective to style, and understand proper preparation of coffee and tea.
