We are looking for a Senior Sustainability Policy Executive to play a key role in delivering FDF's Sustainability Ambition 2030 and wider environmental agenda.
Working closely with member companies, government departments, NGOs, supply chainpartnersand other stakeholders, you will help drive collaboration, alignmentand progress towards a more sustainable food system.
The role combines policy development, stakeholder engagement, communicationsand project delivery, offering the opportunity to make a real impact across the food and drink manufacturing sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and communicating FDF policy positions on environmental and sustainability issues through effective member engagement and consultation.
- Producing consultation responses, position papers, briefings, presentations, mediaresponsesand newsletter articles.
- Monitoring environmental policy and regulatory developments, identifyingimplications formembersand developing policy responses where needed.
- Supporting the delivery, reportingand promotion of FDF's Sustainability Ambition 2030, including workshops and events.
- Managing the Environmental Sustainability Committee, preparingpapersand tracking agreed actions.
- Building engagement with members and stakeholders to share progress, showcasebestpracticeand encourage collaboration.
- Working with colleagues across FDF, including FDF Scotland and FDF Cymru, on sustainability and cross‑functional projects.
- Supporting or leading individual policy areas and projects asrequired.
Requirements
You’llhave experience in sustainability and environmental policy, together with strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
You’llbe comfortable analysing complex issues and translating them into clear, practical insights for different audiences.
You will also have
- A degree in an environmental discipline or equivalent relevant qualifications and/or experience.
- Experience in public affairs, policy development and issue management gained in a corporate, consultancy, trade association, political or government environment.
- Knowledge of environmental and sustainability issues affecting the food and drink manufacturing sector.
- An understanding of how sustainability is implemented in a business environment and the commercial drivers that support it.
- Experience of managing committees, working groups or stakeholder forums.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and engaging policy content.
- Strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
