Help Businesses Bring Safe, Compliant Products to Market

At Food Alert, we're passionate about making compliance simple, practical and commercially focused.

For over 30 years we've helped businesses navigate increasingly complex legislation, giving them the confidence to develop, launch and sell products that are safe, compliant and fit for market.

Today we support clients across food manufacturing, hospitality, retail, consumer products and professional services, providing expert regulatory advice that protects brands and helps businesses grow.

We're proud to be part of Citation Group, one of the UK's leading providers of Health & Safety, HR, Employment Law and ISO services. Supporting over 110,000 businesses nationwide and backed by KKR, Hg Capital and HarbourVest, we're continuing to invest heavily in our technical capability.

We're now looking for an experienced Regulatory Technologist to join our growing Technical Services team.

The Opportunity

This isn't a role where you'll spend every day working on the same product range.

Instead, you'll work with a diverse portfolio of clients, providing expert advice on product compliance, specifications, labelling and regulatory requirements.

Depending on your experience, you may specialise in food products, non-food consumer products or support a mixture of both.

Whatever your background, you'll become a trusted adviser, helping clients confidently navigate legislation, reduce risk and bring compliant products to market.

If you enjoy solving problems, interpreting legislation and turning complex requirements into practical advice, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

Working as part of our Technical Services team, you'll:

  • Provide practical regulatory advice to clients across a range of sectors.
  • Review product labels, pack copy and artwork for legal compliance.
  • Write and review product specifications using retailer and web-based systems.
  • Interpret UK and relevant international legislation, providing practical guidance to clients.
  • Support product launches by ensuring compliance requirements are met.
  • Deliver consultancy projects across product compliance, labelling and technical documentation.
  • Monitor legislative developments and communicate regulatory updates.
  • Support internal colleagues with technical queries.
  • Manage your own client portfolio and build long-term relationships.
  • Deliver training and technical guidance where appropriate.

Who We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from Regulatory Technologists with experience in either food or non-food products.

You might currently work within:

  • Food Manufacturing
  • Food Retail
  • Product Compliance
  • Regulatory Affairs
  • Consumer Products
  • Cosmetics
  • Household Products
  • Technical Services
  • Quality Assurance
  • Product Development

You'll ideally bring:

  • Experience reviewing labels, specifications or technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of product compliance and relevant legislation.
  • Experience interpreting legislation and translating it into practical business advice.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with retailer or specification systems would be advantageous.
  • A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Regulatory Affairs or another relevant discipline would be beneficial, although equivalent industry experience is equally welcome.

Who You Are

You're someone who enjoys finding solutions rather than simply identifying problems.

You'll be:

  • Naturally curious.
  • Commercially minded.
  • Highly organised.
  • Detail focused.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Confident communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Someone who enjoys building trusted client relationships.

Why Join Food Alert?

This role offers something genuinely different.

You'll work with a wide variety of clients, products and industries, giving you exposure to new challenges every week rather than the same product portfolio every day.

You'll be joining a collaborative technical team where expertise is valued, ideas are welcomed and development is actively encouraged.

Alongside a competitive salary, you'll receive:

  • Tailored training, mentoring and clear career progression.
  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays and three festive gift days.
  • Enhanced family-friendly leave.
  • Healthcare cash plan.
  • Life insurance.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Referral bonuses and regular team celebrations.

Most importantly, you'll be joining one of the UK's fastest-growing compliance businesses, where your technical expertise will genuinely influence the success of our clients.
