The Role

Are you passionate about food labelling, regulatory accuracy and helping businesses stay safe, legal and compliant? Do you love spotting errors others miss, interpreting legislation, and turning complex requirements into clear, practical advice?

If so — this is your kind of role. We’re looking for a Food Regulatory Technologist to join our growing Technical Services team and play a key role in delivering exceptional regulatory support to major retailers, manufacturers and hospitality clients across the UK.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in food labelling, pack copy, specifications or product compliance who wants to work with a diverse client base and make a tangible impact on product safety and legality.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing expert regulatory advice to colleagues and clients across retail, manufacturing and hospitality.
  • Carrying out pack copy and label checks for both independent clients and leading retailers.
  • Ensuring all product information is legally compliant, safe and aligned with customer requirements.
  • Supporting ad-hoc consultancy projects such as PPDS labelling checks, pack copy creation and artwork reviews.
  • Writing and verifying product specifications using retailer and web-based systems.
  • Interpreting and communicating UK & EU labelling legislation (FIC 1169/2011 and amendments).
  • Horizon scanning to identify upcoming regulatory changes relevant to our clients.
  • Delivering internal training on labelling requirements.
  • Managing your own client accounts and attending client meetings with confidence and professionalism.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in label checks, pack copy creation, specification writing and artwork approval.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK & EU Food Legislation and industry best practice.
  • Experience using retailer specification platforms and online spec systems.
  • Ability to write clear, accurate specifications and verify all data for legal compliance.
  • A degree in Food Science, Food Technology or similar (or equivalent industry experience).

Who You Are

  • You’re someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-focused environment and enjoys working collaboratively.
  • Highly organised with strong time-management skills.
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented — you spot issues others don’t.
  • Positive, proactive and solutions-focused.
  • A clear communicator who can translate complex legislation into plain English.
  • A supportive team player who steps in where needed.
  • Competent with MS Office and comfortable working with technical systems.

Why Join Us

  • Tailored on-the-job training, mentoring and clear progression paths.
  • 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays + 3 festive ‘gift days’.
  • Enhanced leave (including marriage and new grandparent leave).
  • Healthcare cash plan, life insurance and Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Referral bonuses, incentive vouchers and regular socials — we celebrate our wins!
  • Be part of a national, growing team that’s shaping the future of food safety.
