We are seeking a dynamic Process/Mechanical Engineering Project Manager to join our Collingwood Street team. If you\’re passionate about engineering excellence and delivering impactful projects, we want to hear from you!
This role involves managing process and mechanical engineering projects that improve sustainability, safety, quality, and asset reliability. Your projects will be highly visible to senior leaders and will significantly influence Fonterra\’s future performance.
You will work with a team of Engineering Project Managers and oversee a portfolio of mid-sized projects, typically ranging from $100k to $15M. You will manage projects through all stages—from conception and scoping to design, contracting, implementation, commissioning, handover, and post-completion support.
Reporting to the LNI Regional Portfolio Manager, this position is based at our Collingwood Street site and services projects across the Lower North Island, including Whareroa, Collingwood St, Kapuni, Pahiatua, Longburn, and MFU.

We seek someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-quality engineering environment and can transform ambiguity into clear scopes of work. You should have a strong project management background with the ability to deliver projects end-to-end.
You should have knowledge of consumer food or milk processing, familiarity with project management tools, and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent prioritization, decision-making skills, reliability, and problem-solving abilities are essential.
Key Skills & Attributes:
- A degree in Dairy Process, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Project management experience delivering industrial projects with budgets over $1M.
- Ability to resource, lead, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for project scoping and costing.
- Experience leading consultants and contractors through design, installation, commissioning, and handover.
