Our Clandeboye Transport Depot is Fonterraās largest Transport team, home to our whanau of 255 drivers manning 73 trucks. At peak, the team collects and moves up to 19million litres of milk and milk products from our farmer shareholders spanning from the Lower Waitaki region through to North Canterbury.

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for operations and transport?
Weāre looking for a Depot Manager to take charge of our busy depot, driving performance, safety, and team engagement. As Depot Manager, youāll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Clandeboye Transport depot, ensuring efficient operations, high service standards, and a motivated team. Youāll play a key role in delivering world class asset care, utilisation, best in class transport operation and supporting strategic growth.
With this large scope, a major focus is on leading and engaging a large team of 5 direct and up to 250 indirect reports, including team managers, operations assistants and tanker operators. Youāll be responsible for both quality and the health and safety of your team as well as meeting long-term business objectives. You will do this by creating a feeling of belonging and strong team morale through clarifying and reinforcing the teamās goals, purpose and behaviour through effective coaching and management.
This role will provide you with huge exposure managing Fonterra\’s largest and most critical transport regions, working closely with Depot Managers from other areas and developing strong working relationships internal and external to Fonterra. Reporting to Site Operations Manager, you will be a key member of the site leadership team, adding value through the delivery of key business metrics by increasing capability in both our people and processes.

To excel in this role, youāll be an experienced Depot or Transport Manager or come from a comparable large leadership role, but more so you will be an inspirational and engaging leader, with an earnest passion for people and culture.
You will have the natural ability to build a high performing team culture and provide innovative solutions in a busy, complex and fast-paced environment. You will ideally have experience within transport, logistics and/or manufacturing and a passion for people and safety. You will be composed under pressure, with invaluable people skills, be adaptable, innovative and have a proven record of success in both quality and efficiency. Youāll play a key role in delivering operational excellence and leading cultural transformation.
Other relevant skills and experience include:
- Proven success of leadership and effective team engagement, development, and culture transformation
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills and ability to connect and collaborate with cross-functional teams from across the business
- A passion for improvement and ability to deal with change
- Experience of leading and influencing a unionised workforce
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing and delivering large budgets
- Monitoring KPIs and using data-driven insights to optimize performance such as labour and asset utilisation
