About Fonix
Fonix is a fast-growing, publicly listed payments and messaging technology company. We help some of the biggest brands engage customers and take frictionless mobile payments, with operations spanning the UK, Ireland, France, Switzerland and Portugal. Our finance team is small and fast paced, and this role is a great fit for someone part-qualified who's ready to develop their finance career.
The Role
You’ll own the preparation of management accounts for our growing French subsidiary, handling balance sheet reconciliations and VAT across multiple territories, including regular contact with accountants and advisors in different territories. Alongside that, you’ll flex into day-to-day finance operations when the wider team needs an extra pair of hands. It’s a great opportunity to broaden your experience across international entities while turning your exam knowledge into real, hands-on experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Management Accounts
- Contributing to the preparation of group management accounts, with particular ownership of our French subsidiary
- Delivering a timely, accurate month-end close, including journals for accruals, prepayments, deferred income and other adjustments
- Owning the relationship with our external French accountants
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations across multiple group entities and investigating differences
- Ensuring intercompany transactions are recorded and reconciled
- Tax
- Managing payroll and payroll tax compliance
- Preparing VAT returns for multiple entities, and maintaining supporting VAT reconciliations
- Liaising directly with accountants and advisors across different territories
- Transactional Operations
- Providing operational support to the Finance Assistant on day-to-day transactional work - invoice processing, payment runs, accruals and revenue reconciliations - stepping in wherever it’s needed most
- Audit & Team Support
- Playing a key role in the year-end audit, and being a go-to person for finance queries from suppliers, customers and colleagues
What We’re Looking For
- Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA), actively studying
- 3+ years of relevant finance experience with month-end or management accounts exposure
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Proactive with strong problem-solving skills - autonomous, comfortable setting your own priorities
- Strong Excel skills; organised and reliable with a varied, deadline-driven workload
- Hands-on experience with Xero is preferable
- Looking to build on your experience and take on broader ownership
Why Join Fonix?
- Real ownership of a broad, technically varied finance remit from day one
- Growing PLC with scale-up energy
- Close access to senior finance leadership
- Direct exposure to international entities across France, Ireland, Switzerland and Portugal
- Hybrid working (1-2 days per week in our central London office)
Salary, Benefits And Hours
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays + your birthday off
- Free breakfast in the office on Thursdays, Cycle to Work Scheme, and regular team socials
- Support for professional development and study
- 9:00am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday
