Thinking of becoming a Taxi Driver but don't know how? We can help. Driving a taxi is a fantastic way to be your own boss. As a self-employed driver, you get to work the hours that you choose and be in control over your earnings.

To become a Taxi Driver, there are several steps you will have to take including passing a theory and practical driving test. fonaCAB has developed a training programme to help you get through the Theory Test and guide you through the other parts of the process. We would like to hear from anyone interested in completing the training programme via Zoom or in person if required at our offices on Knock Road Belfast or Carn Industrial Estate Portadown. Once your training is complete, we can help you book your Theory Test. There is no charge for participating in the training. One-to-one tutoring is available if required.

fonaCAB can guide you on the other aspects of the process including practical testing, Access NI approval, and completing a medical. When you pass your tests and become a driver, fonaCAB offers substantial induction training to ensure you hit the ground running and maximise your earning potential.

With fonaCAB, drivers can taxi in a vehicle up to ten years old provided it is PSVd, clean, and well maintained to reflect our company standards. If you do not have a car, fonaCAB can help you should you require a vehicle.

Full time or part time? With fonaCAB, you work the hours that suit you. We can tailor a package to suit you whether you want to work for just one, or all seven days of the week.

Requirements to become a Taxi Driver:

• You must have permission to work in the UK.
• You must have held a standard driving licence (Category B) for at least 3 years.
• You must meet the necessary requirements for good repute (Access NI check).
• You must pass the Theory and Practical Tests as set by the DFI.
