Founded over a decade ago, Friends of Mangochi Orphans Education (FOMOE) is a UK-registered charity that supports MOET School in Mangochi, Malawi. What began as a small group of committed benefactors has grown into a community of supporters dedicated to providing children with access to education, nutrition, and hope for a brighter future.

Our mission is to strengthen the school’s financial sustainability and develop new initiatives that positively impact both students and their wider communities.

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and strategic Fundraising Trustee to join our Board.

This is a voluntary position that plays a vital role in shaping and delivering our fundraising strategy. You’ll collaborate closely with fellow trustees and volunteers to diversify income streams, secure new funding opportunities, and ensure the long-term growth of our organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee fundraising strategies and action plans.
  • Identify, cultivate, and engage potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
  • Research and prepare grant applications and fundraising materials.
  • Support and coordinate fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Maintain relationships with existing donors and ensure effective stewardship.
  • Provide insight and guidance to enhance FOMOE’s fundraising performance.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or the charity sector.
  • Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
  • Confidence in building and maintaining donor relationships.
  • Collaborative mindset with effective interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of fundraising tools or CRM systems (a plus).
  • A degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or Business is desirable but not essential.
