The Role
We are seeking a passionate and adaptable Class Teacher to join our dedicated team. You will lead a class of up to six students, supported by two Teaching Assistants, delivering a personalised curriculum that blends National Curriculum objectives with outdoor, farm-based learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across core subjects (English, Maths, Science) and topic-based learning, integrating outdoor and farm-based activities.
- Develop and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) aligned with each student\’s EHCP targets.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment that promotes students\’ social, emotional, and academic development.
- Collaborate with Teaching Assistants and other staff to provide consistent support and interventions tailored to individual needs.
- Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting to parents/carers and relevant professionals.
- Participate in regular team meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to the wider school community, including whole-school activities and events.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching primary-aged children.
- Proven experience working with children with ASC and/or SEMH needs.
- Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and ability to adapt it to meet diverse learning needs.
- Experience and/or training in phonics teaching – we are a Read Write Inc. school and expect all staff to support our consistent approach to early reading.
- Ability to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
Desirable:
- Experience in outdoor education or farm-based learning environments.
- Additional qualifications in SEND or therapeutic approaches (e.g., Team Teach, Thrive).
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and strategies to support emotional regulation.
