- Receiving the initial notification of an emergency incident and determining the appropriate response;
- Acting as the council’s first point of contact to attend the scene of an incident or deciding whether or not to deploy an Incident Liaison Officer (ILO) or specialist council officer, whilst liaising with the Council’s Emergency Planning Officer;
- Taking operational decisions including deciding whether to activate the council’s emergency plan and deploy officers, establish a rest centre and whether to commit financial resources in response to an incident;
- Liaising closely with the emergency services and the KCC Duty Officer;

Remuneration: An ERO will receive a standby payment of £200.00 per week whilst on duty. Mileage will be reimbursed in line with your normal mileage rate. If you have any queries regarding the rate of pay, enhancements and mileage rates please contact a member of Human Resources.
