As part of our continued focus on embedded software development, and our commitment to deliver high quality and reliable products to our customers, we are hiring for a new role to support our growing community of engineers working on embedded software.
The Role
As part of maturing our organisational structure, we are introducing additional Engineering Management capacity to support our teams, specifically focused on the Novation brand. Depending on your experience level, you'll be managing 2 or more teams in this role (2-4 engineers per team, including QA). The teams are made up of a balance of senior, mid-level, and junior engineers, who are developing embedded software to support our Novation ranges. As an Engineering Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping best practices and fostering a strong engineering culture, while working closely with Product Owners and Technical Leads to help balance quality, flow, and product delivery. This role will report to the Head of Software and work closely with other Engineering Managers and Leads across the department.
Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery capabilities and efficiency of your teams, including championing good engineering practices
- Working closely with Product Management, ensure team priorities are aligned to deliver on the Product Roadmap and Engineering Strategy
- Facilitate communication and collaboration across teams, providing context and support
- Champion knowledge-sharing, including appropriate documentation, team demos, and communities of practice
- Guide the development of engineers through regular feedback, 1:1s, and career development conversations
- Shape hiring practices to attract the right talent and improve onboarding processes
- Ensure that items in the roadmap are understood and have the appropriate resourcing and skills required
Qualifications
- Experience leading teams and helping them work well together
- Experience mentoring teams in Agile and DevOps environments
- A passion for helping others achieve ambitious goals while advocating for technical excellence
- A background as a senior software engineer with a strong grasp of embedded software development (C/C++), working on cost-sensitive product architectures
- A love of music and ideally audio technology
