You are not just a salesperson; you are a strategic partner for employers across the region. You will identify, engage, and consult with employers to diagnose skills gaps and design bespoke training packages. Whether it’s a single apprenticeship placement, or a multi‑layered corporate training programme, you will ensure that Focus is the training partner of choice to support employers across the South West region.

About Focus Training

Focus Training is one of the South West’s leading independent training providers, specialising in apprenticeships and commercial training solutions across four key sectors: Business, Healthcare, Childcare, and Trades – including Electrical, Plumbing & Gas, and Fire & Security. We’re proud to boast some of the highest apprenticeship achievement rates in the region at 72.4% overall, with some of our programmes achieving 100% over the last few years. With a change of leadership over the last 12 months, we’ve entered a phase of growth in a new direction, keeping that same Focus dedication to quality and customer experience, whilst moving into new markets and regions. This makes it a really exciting time for ambitious and driven new team members to join us, help shape the culture, and build their career with us.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Business Development
    • Solution Architecting: Learn about employer’s pain points, and curate hybrid solutions, e.g. combining apprenticeships with bespoke commercial workshops, to solve their specific operational hurdles.
    • Relationship Building: Comfortably navigate diverse environments, from building rapport with small business owners, to joining the Marketing and Commercial Director in high‑level workforce strategy pitches to C‑suite executives.
    • Market Intelligence: Contribute to regular market landscape reports to identify emerging industry trends and competitor activity, ensuring Focus Training remains ahead of the curve.
  • Relationship & Account Management
    • Employer Partnerships: Identify and secure high‑quality employer partners who align with our values including commitment to quality training, and learner‑first approach.
    • Lead Generation & Conversion: Execute disciplined cold outreach and networking activities to secure qualified leads, managing the pipeline through to sign‑up.
    • Event Leadership: Attend and represent Focus at key local and regional industry events. Collaborate in organising and hosting proprietary employer events that position us as thought leaders.
  • Operational Excellence
    • CRM Discipline: Maintain impeccable records in the CRM to ensure lead ownership clarity and seamless handovers between departments.
    • KPI Management: Meet and exceed KPIs including lead generation, employer sign‑ups and revenue growth, ensuring all activities align with the company’s strategic plan as well as Ofsted EIF guidelines.
    • Data‑Driven Growth: Use employer feedback and market insights to refine your pitch, feed back to the marketing team to inform their efforts, and contribute to group growth discussions.
    • Cultural Leadership: Act as a brand ambassador, demonstrating internal leadership that inspires colleagues and reflects our culture of quality, openness and belonging.
