Responsibilities

  • Utilize AIDET when communicating with patients to identify service requirements, ensure correct exam is performed, and establish rapport.
  • Instruct/communicate with patient and/or patient's family regarding the test and assess ability to tolerate exam.
  • Prepare patient/area for mammography procedure by positioning, adjusting devices, moving equipment, and setting exposure factors.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control, drug and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques; use proper sterile techniques and maintain hand hygiene.
  • Work with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation; report issues to management or appropriate department.
  • Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation such as requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, etc.
