The predicted salary is between 23166 - 28314 Β£ per year.

We are currently recruiting for a Part-Time Librarian / Library Assistant to join a busy school library on a temporary basis until the October half term. This is a varied role supporting the day-to-day running of the library, assisting students with research and reading and ensuring a welcoming, organised environment. You will work alongside another member of the library team for part of the day before taking responsibility for supervising the library during the afternoon.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising students within the library, including after-school study periods
  • Assisting students and staff with enquiries, research and library resources
  • Issuing, returning and shelving books and other resources
  • Cataloguing and processing new resources
  • Creating and maintaining displays and noticeboards
  • Supporting the Head Librarian with the general running of the library
  • Maintaining stationery stocks and completing general administrative duties
  • Ensuring appropriate standards of behaviour and a safe, welcoming library environment

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience within a library, school, education or similar environment
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Confidence working independently and supervising students
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365
  • A friendly, approachable and professional manner
  • The ability to start at short notice and commit to the duration of the temporary assignment

Hours: Wednesday-Friday, 12pm-6pm

Contract: Temporary until 16th October 2026 in the first instance
