Role: Senior Test Automation Engineer
Summary
A hands-on engineering role that designs, writes and maintains automated test suites full-time, covering UI and end-to-end tests, working alongside a separate test strategy function.
This is a coding role: the person writes test code in a real programming language, not manual or record-and-playback scripts.
Key responsibilities
- Run and maintain automated testing full-time.
- Introduce and own an end-to-end and UI test automation framework.
- Write new UI and end-to-end test scenarios for untested areas of the product.
- Design and maintain API-level end-to-end and contract tests.
- Integrate automated test suites into the CI pipeline as required checks.
- Run tests and triage failures on an ongoing basis.
- Required skills and experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience building automated test suites in code.
- Strong programming ability in Type Script, able to write and maintain production-quality test code.
- Expert-level experience with Playwright, or an equivalent modern end-to-end testing framework such as Cypress or Webdriver IO.
- Experience designing and writing API-level end-to-end and integration tests against REST APIs.
- Experience integrating automated test suites into a CI pipeline, ideally Git Hub Actions.
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira.
- Ability to identify untested scenarios and write new UI and end-to-end test coverage independently.
- Comfortable using AI coding assistants (such as Git Hub Copilot) as part of day-to-day work.
- A public Git Hub profile, open-source contributions, or personal repositories that demonstrate their work.
- Preferred skills and experience
- Experience testing applications built with Angular and React.
- Experience with visual regression testing.
- Experience with monorepo CI tools such as Turborepo.
- Experience working alongside a separate quality strategy or test lead function.
