Experienced Interim SHE Manager required for chilled food manufacturing business. My client is in urgent need of an experienced Interim SHE Manager to join the business on a 3-6-month interim contract to start asap, ideally within the next 2-3 weeks to have a handover with the current incumbent.

My client is a highly successful chilled food manufacturing business in the UK, producing products for major retailers. This role is inside IR35, paying Β£ - Β£ per day. This is a permitted site with a strong focus on environmental aspects; 50% of the role is environment-focused. The site includes an effluent plant, ammonia plant, and water discharge into a local watercourse. They are willing to provide training on environmental issues, but experience is desirable so the interim can hit the ground running.

Day-to-day responsibilities as Site SHE Manager:

  • The upkeep of environmental permit conditions
  • Devise and implement SHE strategies
  • Ensure all health, safety, and environment legal requirements, policies, standards, and procedures are interpreted, communicated, documented, and systems exist to ensure compliance with current legislation and internal policies regarding SHE
  • Develop, implement, maintain, communicate, and continuously improve the Health, Safety, and Environment management system, ensuring all relevant paperwork and reports are completed and issued as required
  • Design, implement, monitor, and report SHE performance, analyze trends, and develop action plans to meet SHE targets
  • Identify and coordinate SHE training and development for managers
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices through workforce engagement
  • Ensure all incidents are investigated, recorded, and reported, with recommendations for improved practices to reduce accidents
  • Monitor risk assessment processes and assist assessors to ensure assessments and safe systems of work meet regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate actions with enforcement authorities and loss adjusters, reporting communications to the Head of Operations

Ideal candidate requirements:

  • Diploma-level NEBOSH H&S and Environmental qualification or equivalent
  • Significant experience as an Interim Health & Safety Manager within the food industry
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal/presentation and written, and a team-oriented approach
