Telecoms Installations & Maintenance Engineer
Glasgow or Edinburgh | Full-time | Hybrid
Competitive Salary Depending on Experience
About the role
We\’re looking for a hands-on Telecoms Installations & Maintenance Engineer to join our Operations team in Scotland. This is a role where you\’ll make a real impact—preconfiguring telephony solutions, deploying technology directly to customers, and ensuring they get the most from their new systems.
You\’ll split your time between technical preparation (building and configuring equipment to exact specifications) and customer-facing delivery (remote support and field installations). Whether you\’re setting up phone systems, configuring routers and switches, or training end users, you\’ll be the person who bridges the gap between complex technology and seamless customer experience.
What you\’ll be doing
Technical delivery
- Preconfigure telephony hardware and software using templated approaches and best practice standards
- Set up networking peripherals including routers, switches, and hosted management tools
- Conduct site surveys to ensure smooth implementation of new solutions
- Quality check all configurations before dispatch to guarantee everything works perfectly
Customer-facing work
- Install telephony solutions at customer sites, including any necessary data cabling or fibre work
- Provide remote installation support, guiding customers through connecting their solutions
- Deliver training to end users, ensuring they can use systems independently and effectively
- Manage your own workload to meet customer deadlines while maintaining service excellence
What we\’re looking for
Essential
- Experience working in IT or telephony sectors
- Practical knowledge of IT, telephony, and networking equipment
- Strong customer service skills with excellent communication abilities
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Nice to have
- Background in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment
- Industry certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA, or Microsoft qualifications
What makes you a great fit
You\’re process-driven and detail-oriented, but also flexible enough to solve problems on the fly. You genuinely enjoy helping customers and can explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical people. You\’re curious about new technologies and eager to expand your skills. Most importantly, you take pride in delivering solutions that work brilliantly from day one.
Where this role can take you
We believe in developing our people. Potential career paths include Team Leader, Technical Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Technical Consultant—both field and remote-based opportunities available.
Ready to apply? We\’d love to hear from you.
